Emergency roofers in Sydney
15 Sydney roofers that say they take emergency callouts, for water coming through a ceiling, tiles or sheeting lifted in a storm, or a tree that has come through the roof.
Do this first
Before anyone arrives, and before you agree to a callout fee.
- 1Do not go onto the roof, particularly in wet or windy weather. Roof falls are among the most common serious injuries in home maintenance, and a wet roof in a storm is the worst version of it.
- 2Put buckets under the leak and pierce a small hole in a bulging ceiling to let water drain in one spot. A bulging plasterboard ceiling can come down all at once, and a controlled hole is far better than that.
- 3Turn off the power to affected rooms at the switchboard if water is anywhere near light fittings.
- 4Photograph everything before you move it. Storm damage claims are decided on the evidence you gather in the first hour.
- 5If it is a declared storm event, ring your insurer's claims line as well — many will arrange an emergency make-safe directly.
If anyone is in danger, ring 000. For a gas leak ring 132 771. For a fallen powerline, stay at least eight metres away and ring your electricity distributor — not a tradesperson.
15 of 92 roofers listed in Sydney, New South Wales state that they offer emergency or after-hours callouts. This is what each business publishes about itself and has not been independently verified — WhoToHire does not check response times or confirm that anyone is available at a given hour. The businesses are ordered by independent evidence: corroboration across sources, agreement between the listed phone number and the number on the business's own website, website reachability and review history. Nobody pays for a position. Before ringing, ask about the callout fee, the after-hours loading, and how long until someone is actually on site.
What “emergency” means on this page
These 15 businesses publish that they take emergency callouts. We have not verified that. Unlike the ABN, contact-accuracy and website checks — which we run ourselves and publish the results of either way — availability is a claim, and nobody has rung these numbers at 3am to test it. Expect to try more than one.

Ask these on the phone
Emergency work is where quote-on-arrival pricing causes the most disputes. Two minutes of questions before anyone is dispatched prevents nearly all of them.
- Can you do an emergency make-safe today, with the permanent repair booked later?
- What is the callout fee, and is the make-safe charged separately?
- Do you invoice the insurer directly, or do I pay and claim?
- How long until you can be here?
Common questions
- How many Sydney roofers offer emergency callouts?
- 15 of the 92 roofers listed in Sydney state that they take emergency or after-hours callouts. That is what the business publishes about itself — we have not independently verified availability, response times or that anyone will answer at 3am.
- What should I do before roofer arrives?
- Do not go onto the roof, particularly in wet or windy weather. Roof falls are among the most common serious injuries in home maintenance, and a wet roof in a storm is the worst version of it. Put buckets under the leak and pierce a small hole in a bulging ceiling to let water drain in one spot. A bulging plasterboard ceiling can come down all at once, and a controlled hole is far better than that. Turn off the power to affected rooms at the switchboard if water is anywhere near light fittings.
- What should I ask when I ring?
- Can you do an emergency make-safe today, with the permanent repair booked later? What is the callout fee, and is the make-safe charged separately? Do you invoice the insurer directly, or do I pay and claim? Getting the callout fee and the after-hours loading agreed on the phone is the single most effective thing you can do to avoid a dispute afterwards.
- Does anyone pay to appear on this list?
- No. There is no paid placement, no sponsored listings and no advertising product anywhere on this site. The order is set by independent checks — corroboration across sources, contact accuracy, website reachability and review history.
Not actually an emergency?
If it can wait until business hours, it is worth waiting. Emergency callouts carry after-hours loadings, and the full Sydney list is 92 businesses rather than 15 — a much better field to choose from.
